Bi-Weekly newsletter from Journalings Of Sporring - Issue #1
I never had a Newsletter, but just for the fun of it i will have one now.
My little journal is my one project these days, and I try to develop it step by step, maybe just for my own sake but hopefully, others can find something in it too? When I first started out on this adventure I didn't think it would last so long, but now I'm not in it for the longevity, I'm in it for the developing myself, educating myself, and maybe giving back to others what they have given me? So here we go:
Hording links?
How many of you are hording links? I used to be a hardcore linkhorder. Collecting interesting links and sharing with friends on Facebook and Twitter. Collecting those links in Pocket, Instapaper, Diigo and so on. Now I clip interesting articles directly to Evernote instead, and try to avoid hording too much. But I also save some of them in Pocket. What your thoughts?
A journaling of links

The Monday after the start of daylight saving time in the United States brings the U.S. and Europe an hour closer together, and the extra hour of workday overlap between the two continents has traditionally resulted in a jump in simultaneous users on the digital messaging platform.

His research into dopamine led to the mainstay treatment still used today to treat millions of people with Parkinson’s.

I’ve never been a huge fan of knowledge management tools. Too rigid, too complex, not adapted to the intricacies of the human mind. I never managed to get on the Evernote or Notion bandwagon. It always felt like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

In the early 1950s, psychiatrists began treating schizophrenia with a new drug called chlorpromazine. Seven decades later, the drug is still used as an anti-psychotic. But now scientists have discovered that the drug, also known as Thorazine, can do something entirely different.

A journaling of Foodies
Those who really know me, knows of my passion for food. And during this Corona crises I have cooked more than I have done in the 6 months prior to it. There's probably no correlations between the both, but for me it's been a way of making a homey feeling, And living by myself (With my cat Ester of course!) it's been extra lonely during this quarantine time.
I like simple cooking, the kind you can put together in 20-30 minutes tops. And I rarely use recopies either than to get inspiration for my own cooking. I also use ideas from my earlier life, the relationships I had and what I have learned from them. Cross kitchen sorta food. Anyway, here's this recipe especially for this newsletter:
Wok with Chorizo sausages and vegetables
(You can exchange the sausage with Kidney beans)
3-4 chorizo sausages in 1 cm slices
6-8 radishes (sliced)
Red onions chopped (3-4)
garlic (4-5 cloves) (Crushed and chopped)
2-3 Red, green and or yellow peppers (sliced)
4-5 orange and yellow carrots (finely sliced)
1 Parsnip (finely sliced)
Heat your wok up with olive oil and start with the carrots, parsnip and radishes. When they start to soften up, add the garlic, onions and the peppers. Stir until they start to soften up, and the Chorizo (Beans)
Add salt, black pepper

In this section I choose four of my photos from Instagram
Journalings of Youtube
I enjoy watching a lot of different things on YouTube. Like instructional (or how-tos), music videos and dance videos.
Ophélie Bégin is and amazing 13 year old dancer from Quebec, I was very moved by her performance.
Ana Carla Maza is an excellent classical Violoncello player, but she does pop and jazz music as well. She's of Cuban heritage.
Sometimes you can't hold back the tears......
I short video how Trump answers questions to mislead and confuse.
Chromebook
I've finally got my Chromebook, and I couldn't be happier. The plan was to acquire one after my 60th birthday, but then I didn't have the money. But 2 months ago I found one in Facebook sales, an Acer Chromebook CB 311 that's really is a great machine.

I must say that my love for the web has returned after getting this very competent computer, in fact I haven't had this feeling since I got the MAC Air one, in 2012 And the next computer I'll buy will also be a Chromebook, but next time it will be one with reversible screen so it can be used as a tablet. This one has a touchscreen but you can't turn the screen so it can be used as a tablet.
It's also cool to be able to use your favorite Android apps on it, not all work. You can also run Linux on it, I have installed it, but not started to use it yet. But I will (probably) in a nearby future.
It also coincided with me founding Roam Research that is a new idea/type of note taking application. It's a game changer for sure, and I'm right now using it 50% of the time (The rest is of course in my faithful Evernote) But I will probably return more to Roam in later editions of my Newsletter
